Besides cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, steam cleaning works great for:

Steam cleaning didn’t do so well at cleaning an oven, which hadn’t been cleaned in quite awhile. But steam cleaning does clean a microwave interior very well.
Steam cleaning can also be used for carpet spot removal. Spots that are food based are removed easily, but other spots such as oil based, don’t always come clean.
From experience, an old chocolate cake spill on a carpet wasn’t removed with steam cleaning.
